The Planning & Zoning Department shapes the future of the city’s physical appearance by overseeing the land use standards related to commercial and residential development. These standards are not to limit development, but to guide development in an orderly and coordinated manner. By regulating the built environment, the Planning & Zoning Department encourages a strong and attractive city in which to support business and residential community growth, enhance livability, and protect property values.
