CALEA Accreditation

The City of Bolivar Police Department is working toward becoming a CALEA accredited agency. The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) was established in 1979 to assist law enforcement agencies in establishing and maintaining high standards of excellence.

Through the extensive process, CALEA will thoroughly examine all aspects of BPD’s management, operations, policies, procedures and support systems. The department will also conduct a detailed self-assessment and participate in an on-site review by a team of CALEA assessors.

The community will also have the opportunity to participate in the process by providing comments and observations.

Accreditation Public Comment Portal

Please visit the CALEA Accreditation Public Comment Portal at https://cimrs2.calea.org/1135 to provide comments, commendations and other information about the Bolivar Police Department’s quality of service and other information relevant to the accreditation process.

The purpose of this public portal is to receive comments regarding an agency’s compliance with CALEA standards, engagement in the service community, delivery of public safety services and overall candidacy for accredited status. These comments can be in the form of commendations or concerns. The overall intent of the accreditation process is to provide the participating agency with information to support continuous improvement, as well as foster the pursuit of professional excellence.

IMPORTANT: CALEA is not an investigatory body and subsequently the public portal should not be used to submit information for such purposes.  Additionally, there will be no response other than acknowledgement to submissions; however, the information will be considered in context to its relevancy to compliance with standards and the tenets of CALEA® Accreditation.

Visit www.calea.org to learn more about CALEA.
